It is a marathon not a sprint
July 20, 2011 is the day we settled on our Forever Home aka Scary House. It was over 100 degrees out and when we entered the house I remember thinking "why would anyone buy a house without air conditioning?" As we approach similar weather today in 2017, I still wonder "why would anyone buy a house without air conditioning?" While so much has changed my feelings on air conditioning apparently remain the same.
Despite how overwhelming it was to take this project on, I really did believe we would be done renovations by my 50th birthday. Can you say "JackAss party of 1!" As my 50th is only three short years from now, I am more realistic in looking to finish before I retire because this house has taught me one thing...it is a marathon not a sprint...especially when you have a toddler.
On our sixth anniversary I thought it would be fun to go through and compare the original pictures from the website listing for the house to the way those same shots look today.
One thing I will say, it is amazing what removing a couple of trees does for a house. Oh and I still can't wrap my brain around why anyone would paint 100 year old pine floors. And lastly, "why yes Virginia" your Crate and Barrel modern furniture will go nicely with the 1940's gold silk wallpaper.
