When the house starts to look like a Pinterest board...stop

Tonight ends my Pinterest-cation.  As I reflect on the week I realize that the reason we don't do all those DIY projects is not because we won't have time....it is because it is exhausting and stressful.  Unless you are Martha Stewart with a staff to do the prep work, for us everyday ladies, it is just a lot of work.  I have come to appreciate sitting on my butt taking conference calls 40+ hours per week.  This vacation might be the only one that actually had me happy to get back to work.

All kidding aside, I only got about half of what I wanted to do done.  I actually got injured, ha ha ha!  Seriously ....I hurt my wrist from all the work and ended up taking off a couple of days to rest.  As I say it I am cracking myself up.

In the end it was a wonderful week for one reason....I only did what I wanted to do.  I slept in, I watched Kelly & Michael, I decorated and I organized.  While it was a lot of work, it is fun looking around the house and seeing the results of my efforts.

That reminds me of a conversation with my sister-in-law last night.  She spent the week making a NOEL for the holiday.  One with glitter, one with twine etc.  It looks great.  Then she went to Target and her daughter points out something very similar for a couple of dollars.  How many times have you seen something, say at Home Goods and said "I can make that".  Lets get real....you could but you won't and in the end it will cost you twice as much.  Now if you are knocking off Pottery Barn...totally different story.  Anyway, back to looking around the house....as I look around I see the fruits of my labor.  When people come over and they say "Where did you get that?", the response won't be "Target" or "Home Goods" or even "Pottery Barn", it will be "I made it"

Enjoy some pics from my Pinterest-cation....
