It is all about having the right tools

I am beginning to learn that it is 50% knowing how to do it and 50% having the right tools. When we started to remove the wall paper in my office I went on line to learn how to approach this task. I was not crazy about using chemicals so they suggested warm water and fabric softener. So we had a go at it using this method. And on the next trip to the Home Depot, I bought the chemicals. I have heard from others the fabric softener worked but perhaps not on wall paper installed probably 40 Years ago. Once we had the chemicals the wall paper came off quickly and we were on our way. I have learned Home Depot rents wall paper steamers. This will be my next tool to try...we have a lot of paper to remove. I found out that way back it was cheaper to wall paper then paint. So we have wall paper on 90% of the house. We also have paint over the wall paper..that should be real fun to remove..oops did I mention it was on the ceilings. When we tried to roll the paint on the ceiling in the dining room, it bubbled from the weight. So in my office Vince's dad, Stan, hand painted the ceiling with a brush. That worked and looks really great. Everybody should be as lucky as us to have a Stan, we are learning so much from his experience.
