The Bathroom Reveal
When we moved in we knew the bathroom would need to be done. With the yellow tile and blue toilet and sink, it was certainly outdated. However it was functional and hey a good shower curtain and coordinating towels would have made it worked for a while. Well the bathroom had different plans. In October we came into the entry way to find water on the floor and a soaking wet ceiling. We turned the water off to the toilet and made plans to replace it assuming that was the issue. Vince goes on travel and I return days later to find much more water in the entry way and the ceiling moments from crashing to the floor. Being alone, I naturally freak out. And then I am reminded that Vince said I needed to know how to do things in the basement. At this moment I really wished I would have prioritized this orientation to our basement.
I call Rusty, who use to be the care taker for the house, and he comes right over. After informing me that this bathroom has been an on going issues (great thanks!), he shows me where the shut off valve is for the bathroom. Whew! problem solved.
Apparently the bathroom REALLY wanted to be renovated because we showed up days later to find more water in the entry way. Fortunately Vince was with me and we determined it was the hot water. So we shut off the hot water and we wait. No more water, second whew!
But now we realize that the only way to fix the issue is to demo the bathroom floor, which meant doing the entire bathroom. We found out the issue was pipes being run incorrectly and vibrating against eachother. The only good news about the entire renovation was the wall paper only took 10 minutes to remove.
While we still have a little punch list before we can call it done, it was ready enough for the family to use it over the holiday weekend.
BEFORE.................
Before we reveal the new bathroom we need to include this story. We had these decorative tiles above the sink in the bathroom. Or so we thought! One day we were working in the office when my Mom comes in holding the decorative "tile" with this look on her face like "OMG I am so sorry but look what happened". Turns out the decorative tile was a decal. Things that make you go hum?
